Welcome to Heartland Films where our goal is inspiration. We make feature films, documentaries, short films and series that inspire the people who watch them to make a difference.
Founded in 2003 by Sue Vicory, the non-profit Heartland Films grew from the success of a single documentary, Homelessness and the Power of One. Directed by Sue, this film brought new attention to homelessness and inspired many people not only to give generously to alleviate the problem but to become actively involved in changing it for the better. The film also was a winner in the Accelerated Grant for Emerging Filmmakers competition sponsored by Women in Film and the General Motors Corporation.
Energized by the interest in Homelessness and the Power of One, Sue has developed a number of other projects, including Kansas City Jazz & Blues: Past, Present and Future, The Latin Rose and The My Power of One project. In all her work, Sue and, by extension everyone involved in Heartland Films, has one overriding purpose: to demonstrate the power of one to make the world a better place.
