Marilyn Maye

Discovered in a Kansas City nightclub nearly five decades ago, jazz singer Marilyn Maye has since been immortalized by the Smithsonian as one of the best singers of the 20th Century. She sang for Princess Grace in Monaco and with Peter Nero in the Philly Pops. A favorite of Ella Fitzgerald and Johnny Carson, for whom she appeared 76 times, Maye truly is an industry favorite. Carson said to his audience after one of her performances, "And that, young singers, is the way it`s done."

Marilyn’s latest success is a cabaret show, titled "Love on the Rocks,” in which she takes on the world`s saddest torch songs. Only a singer who has loved and lost, lived such a rich life and is still alive to tell about it could stare down the notes of these songs and leave an audience feeling affirmed rather than heartbroken. According to The New York Times review of her performance, Maye does it with finesse.
